I was charged an overdraft fee by my bank. What should I do?

We hate this fee as much as you do. We wish that banks wouldn’t charge it!

The best way to avoid an overdraft fee is to make sure there’s enough money in your external linked bank account before initiating a transfer or before your next membership billing date. Also, don’t forget about any recurring deposits you have set up to your Ellevest accounts!

If you’ve already overdrafted by accident, we’re unable to do anything about the fees charged by your bank, including if you’ve forgotten to check your scheduled recurring transfers. Our best advice is to call your bank and ask them to waive the fee.
