How do I add a linked bank account?

You’ll be prompted to link a bank account once you sign up for Ellevest.

Ellevest uses a third-party provider called Plaid to connect and manage your linked bank. When you first create your Ellevest account, there are a few different ways to link an external bank:

1. Find your bank and verify your account by logging in directly
2. Automatic verification by entering account and routing numbers 
3. Manual verification by entering account and routing numbers

Find your bank and verify your account by logging in directly

For most users, you will select your bank and use your login information and Plaid will link your bank to Ellevest. If Plaid does not support your bank, you will be prompted to link your account via manually verifying two test deposits.

Step 1: Launch bank linking with Plaid

Step 2: Select or search for your bank

Step 3: Log in with your bank credentials 

Step 4: Select the bank account you’d like to link to Ellevest

Step 5: Continue to complete setting up your Ellevest account

Automatic verification by entering account and routing numbers 

Some users will be able to link their bank account to Ellevest by entering account and routing information, and your account will be verified automatically. Plaid will make 2 test deposits to your bank account and automatically verify the deposits within 1-2 business days. 

Step 1: Enter your login credentials for the bank account you would like to link to Ellevest

Step 2: Select the specific account that you would like to connect

Step 3: Enter the routing number for your account.

Step 4: Enter the account number for your account.

Step 5: Continue and complete setting up your Ellevest account. 

Step 6: That’s it! Plaid will automatically verify your account for you.

Manual verification by entering account and routing numbers

If your bank isn’t supported for automatic verification, Plaid will make 2 small deposits to your account. Find the deposits in your bank account and enter the exact amounts in Ellevest to verify your bank account.

Deposits will be made within one business day, and will be valid for 7 business days until they expire.

Step 1: When prompted, choose to link to your bank with account numbers

Step 2: Select your bank

Step 3: Enter your bank account’s routing number

Step 4: Enter the account number for the account that you would like to link to Ellevest

Step 5: Continue and complete setting up your Ellevest account

Step 6: In 1 business day sign in to Ellevest and verify the test deposit amounts
