What fees or taxes are associated with an IRA or brokerage/taxable investment account transfer?

To transfer your taxable investment account or IRA to Ellevest:

Ellevest won’t charge you any additional fees for completing an IRA or brokerage account transfer with us, and there are no taxes associated with these transfers. However, you may incur transaction and transfer fees from your current provider, and those fees often vary by firm. One thing to keep in mind: some providers may charge lower fees if you sell the securities in your account prior to initiating the transfer to Ellevest, so be sure to ask your current provider. 

To transfer your taxable investment account or IRA out of Ellevest:

Goldman Sachs Custody Solutions, the broker and custodian for your account, charges a $100 fee per account for transferring to another institution via ACATS. There are no taxes associated with an IRA transfer to another provider. However, transferring a brokerage account to another provider may cause capital gains in your account.
